Watch for the 2017 December Calender which will be released within the next few days. It will have a daily listing of Events for the upcoming weeks leading up to the Holidays and the end of the 2017 year.

Thank you to all the organizers who work tirelessly to plan these fun-filled events for the Town of Makkovik.

2018 is Election Year for ICGs!

Are you interested in being a member of council? Do you have a passion for local government? Why not put your name forward. The term of council is a four year period and there is a quarterly remuneration available.

Stay tuned in 2018 for public notices on Call for Nominations of Candidates for the election of council seats and AngajukKak, to take part in the Fall of 2018.

As per the Town's Policy, councillors meet on the first Wednesday of each month. If a quorum cannot be reached( which is half of council plus 1), the meeting will be re-scheduled. Notice of meetings are posted on the Town's Facebook site. A link to our facebook site is found on the home page of our website.

In order to have a matter placed on the Agenda, it must be submitted by 3:00 pm preceding the day of the scheduled meeting.

Regular Meetings are open to the public.

Funding Approved for Assistance Program

The Makkovik Inuit Community Government received funding to hire residents who require insurable hours for Employment Insurance through the 2017-2018 CEEP, Provincial Government.

The scope of work is assisting our Senior residents( over age of 65) and the Physically and Mentally Challenged with daily wood chores, snow shoveling and delivering and pumping heating fuel.

It there is enough time in the day, our workers will assist other residents in need of assistance.

Craft Making Project 2016

THIS JOB OPPORTUNITY IS PENDING FUNDING APPROVAL

The Makkovik Inuit Community Government is seeking five experienced craft persons for the following positions to produce craft items including( but not limited to) slippers, mitts, change purses, key chains.

One(1) Craft Supervisor - $ 16.64 per hour
Four(4) Craft Persons - $11.44 per hour

Duration of Employment: April 04th, 2016 to May 06th, 2016 - Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm( 37.5 hours per week)

MOOSE HARVEST

Sealed bid(s) are being accepted from beneficiaries interested in harvesting two (2) moose (one moose per harvester) allocated under the Nunatsiavut Government 2015-2016 moose management plan.

Bids must include the slaughter, butchering, distribution and disposal of the meat to the community as determined by the Makkovik Inuit Community Government. In addition, the antlers (if any) to remain with the Makkovik Inuit Community Government. All tools, fuel, ammunitions, packaging and supplies associated with the above is to be covered under the bid.

Please note: these moose license can only be held for a period of 30 days.

Please submit your bids to the Council office by February 12, 2016 @ 4:00 pm.
