Makkovik Gymnasium
The gymnasium is like a second home to most children in the community of Makkovik. It is used during school hours, as well as after. The Recreation department uses this facility for many activities such as tournaments, carnivals, sports training and regular gym usage.

The community of Makkovik gets to use the school gym after 6 p.m. each weekday. The Recreation Director and/or the Assistant Recreation Director supervise the scheduled gym activities during the evenings.

On the weekends it may be used for many fundraising events such as tournaments, dances, drama performances, carnivals, community feasts and much more.

Community Hall
The Recreation Department uses the Community Hall for many things such as the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, Table Tennis for the youth, Elders events and much more. It is available for rent for birthday parties, meetings, conferences, etc.

Makkovik Hall of Youth
The Makkovik Hall of Youth is a new 3000 sq. ft. building constructed in 2012 with a multi purpose room, work out room, and offices of the Recreation Department.

The multi purpose room is free for youth activities throughout the day for different age groups. It has wifi internet, sofa, small kitchen, computers, board games, flat screen TV, video games, pool table, table tennis, and much more.

The work out room is open to people of all ages. It may be used with the purchase of a pass. Equipment at the work out room includes two thread mills, multipurpose machine, bench press, exercise bike, etc.

Makkovik Arena
The Makkovik Arena is a 37,000 square feet building that opened in February 2017 with an NHL size rink, 4 change rooms, first aid room, washrooms, a fully equipped kitchen/canteen, radio station, and offices for the recreation/arena crew, elevator to access the upstairs and a multipurpose room.

The Grand Opening of the Arena took place on March 11, 2017 with cutting of the ribbon, cake cutting, a hockey game between Minor Hockey Players vs. Moms/Dads and a free public skate.

The Multipurpose room is available for renting for birthday parties, meetings, conferences etc.

In the winter the ice rink is highly used by the Makkovik Minor Hockey along with the volunteers known as the WOLF PACK! The rink is also used by both Men's and Women's Hockey league along with Women's Broomball as a part of the Makkovik Inuit Community Government's recreation program. Nunatsiavut Government's Department of Health and Social Development have been providing public free skates once a month. There also have been ice hockey tournaments since the opening of the Arena.

In the summer months the rink has been used for celebrations such as the Makkovik Trout Festival, National Indigenous Peoples Day, and Canada Day.

In addition the Local Radio Station CIML-FM: 99.5 FM has moved into the Arena September 2017. The Makkovik Radio Society is run by volunteers since 1975 with one hired employee that has daily programming which includes Nunatsiavut Government Department of Health and Social Development bi-weekly radio shows and Radio Bingo on Monday and Friday each week.
