Call for Nominations

One(1) Councillor Seat representing those residents being " Inuit, Residents, and their descendants( Voter's A Roll). Nominations of candidates shall be accepted between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm from January 23 to Janaury 27, 2012 at the Town Office , 16 Andersen Street.
If required, the BY-ELECTION shall take place on MONDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2012. Should there be only one candidate nominated at the closing of the nominations, the candidate shall be declared elected by acclamation.
Nominations:
a) Shall be in writing( required Nomination Form at Town Office)
b) Shall state civic address of the Candidate be signed be the proposer and seconder, both of whom must be present together with the Candidate. The Candidate shall also sign the nomination form signifying his/her acceptance. Proposer and seconder must both be enrolled on the Voter's "A" Roll in order to nominate a Voters "A" Candidate.
c) Candidate shall pay a non-refundable fee of $ 25.00, to be paid to Returning Officer at the time of his/her nomination.

Qualifications:

a) Is eligible to be enrolled on the Voter's " A' roll in an election in the Town of Makkovik
b) Is an Ordinary Resident for six months preceding the date of election.
c) Is an Ordinary Resident 19 years and over
d) Not indebted to the council for any arrears or other charges.
e) Not otherwise disqualified to run as Candidate under IL 2010-04, Inuit Community Government Elections Act.

Term of Office

The successful candidate shall serve as councilor until the next election, being 2014. Councillors receive a quarterly remuneration of $ 625.00($ 2,500.00 per year). * The IL2010-04, being the ICG Election Act is available for viewing anytime during normal business hours.
