At the end of the nomination period, Makkovik Inuit Community Government received one nomination for position of AngajukKak, Mr. Herb Jacque.

As per Section 20 of the IL 2010-04 -Inuit Community Government Elections Act, Makkovik Inuit Community Government declared Mr. Herb Jacque elected by Acclamation for the AngajukKâk position.

COUNCILLOR ELECTION SET FOR OCTOBER 2014

Are you interested in running for Council?

The Councillor Elections is fast approaching. The Call for Nominations is scheduled for September 23 to September 30, 2014 and the General Election will take place on October 21, 2014. The successful candidates will run for a four year team, and are entitled to a quarterly remuneration. There are six(6) seats available to represent those resident who are Inuit, Residents and their descendants and one(1) seat available for New Residents.

All residents over the Age of 16 years are encouraged to exercise their vote during the Councillor Elections. Please come out and vote for the Candidate who you think should represent your town!

Should you have any questions please feel free to drop by the Town Office.

Just curious…We named our dog after the town of Makkovik. By chance his mother's name is Paris and his father's name is Houston. I took a string and connected the two on a globe and the midpoint fell very closer to Makkovik, just made sense at the time.

Do you use the groomed trails? The Labrador & Aboriginal Affairs will be seeking feedback from users through survey form. In order to participate in these surveys, you will need to register. Registration forms will be available at the Makkovik Inuit Community Government Town Office and can be picked up during normal business hours from 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
